Building Blocks For a Stronger Nation

SAVING THE WORLD

Many of us who are, or were, naive enough to think that we can make a difference in the world have heard expressions like "Saving the world is an inside job" or "The world doesn't need saving."

First of all, the world and the Earth are not the same thing. The Earth and all the other living creatures on it will be fine once we're gone. A lot of them already are as long as they stay far enough away from humans. The world, this place that we've created on top of the Earth, most definitely needs saving. We need saving. We are on a crash course racing down a dead end road. This is not intended to scare you. It's just a fact that anyone paying attention already knows because we can't keep living the way we have been. It's simply unsustainable.

Yes, saving the world is an inside job. Building a stronger nation starts with building stronger citizens, not the other way around. Going around pointing your finger at anyone else is a waste of energy. You cannot control other people and it's futile to try, but you can control yourself, or learn how to. Saving the world starts with each of us. What is fueling our acceleration down that dead end road? Our dependency on an unsustainable system. Why would a sane intelligent person build their life on something that they know isn't sound? This seems like unhealthy behavior. What's the solution? Get healthy. This starts with you and me. It's the only answer. Be better than those trying to get us to buy into the mess. The decision to choose to become healthier is a win win. You become healthier which makes you happier and the world a better place at the same time. It's a no brainer. Literally. Another important benefit from being the best person you can be is that you will immediately recognize the same traits in others who are trying to do the same. Conversely, you will easily recognize the lack of these traits in those who are not telling you the truth.

Where do you start? With yourself by accepting some very simple truths that you may have forgotten.
